How to Get Paid to Post on X: Original Content Rewards and Beyond

X pays posters through five separate routes in 2026, and they reward different accounts. X's own Original Content Rewards pays for impressions on original posts. Subscriptions and tips pay you straight from your followers. Per-view brand campaigns pay for verified views on branded posts. Direct sponsorships pay a flat fee you negotiate with a brand. Most advice online still describes Creator Revenue Sharing, which X retired on September 7, 2026. This guide shows which route suits which kind of account, what each one needs before it pays, and how they combine on one profile.

The Five Ways X Pays, Side by Side

X controls only the first three. The other two work the same on X as on any other platform, so they keep paying even when X changes its rules.

Original Content Rewards in Brief

Original Content Rewards opened on September 8, 2026, the day after X retired Creator Revenue Sharing. To qualify you need an active X Premium subscription, a verified account, at least 500 verified followers and 500,000 qualified impressions in the last 90 days. You also have to be 18 or older and live in an eligible country. For US creators, payouts moved from Stripe to X Money on September 2, 2026 and are available instantly, replacing the old two-week cycle with a $30 minimum; creators outside the US stay on Stripe.

A qualified impression is narrower than it sounds. X counts one unique view from a Premium subscriber, on the Home Timeline, with at least half of the post visible on screen. Views from non-Premium users, from Search or from Explore don't count toward the 500,000. An account can show millions of impressions in its analytics and still fall short, because most of its audience doesn't pay for Premium.

The originality rule causes the most trouble. X's guidance lists commentary, analysis, reporting, personal writing, photography, video, memes and graphics as original, including transformed material where you add a real point of view. It excludes copied posts, reuploads, automated content and repackaged work. For the full breakdown of the program, the move of US payouts to X Money and how X detects reposted content, read our Original Content Rewards explainer.

What changed from Creator Revenue Sharing

Creator Revenue Sharing paid a share of ad revenue, and over time it came to depend on engagement from Premium users. That rewarded reply-farming and high-volume reposting. The new program pays for impressions on original work instead. If your account grew by reposting other people's video, you probably earn less from X directly now. If you already made your own posts, the new program suits you better. X hasn't published a public rate per 1,000 impressions, so treat any dollar figure you see from another creator as one account's result, not an average.

Which Route Fits Your Account

Match the route to what you post:

Per-View Brand Campaigns on X

A per-view campaign pays you for verified views on posts that carry a brand's logo, caption or product. The brand sets the rate. You post from your own account, and you earn on the views each post actually gets. No Premium subscription or originality review is involved. You do need two things: a platform that can read X view counts, and a campaign that accepts X posts.

Few platforms offer both. Most clipping marketplaces built their tracking around TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Our roundup of clipping platforms that track X lists which ones read X views today and why the others skip them. X also counts a video view differently from other platforms. A view registers only after 2 seconds of playback with at least half the player on screen. Native uploads count. Link-outs to other sites don't.

Open marketplaces and curated networks work differently. Open marketplaces let anyone join and post, and the brand reviews clips afterwards. Curated networks screen the account before it gets any campaigns. FindClout is a curated network. It runs campaigns across Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube Shorts and Facebook Reels, and it accepts pages with hundreds of thousands of followers. Every page must clear a 40% US-audience floor, which is verified from account-level data the creator connects, not from a screenshot. About 19 of every 20 applicants are turned down. If your X account is still small, an open marketplace is the realistic first step. Our comparison of open-signup and vetted networks covers the tradeoffs.

Campaign pay is usually capped per post, so one post that runs to ten million views doesn't earn ten times what a one-million-view post earns. Plan on steady volume, not one viral hit. Subscriptions and Tips

With Subscriptions, followers pay you every month for subscriber-only posts. It works best when you post information people want early or can't find elsewhere, such as trade setups, scouting notes or behind-the-scenes material. It works badly for pages whose value is the feed itself. A meme page has little to put behind a paywall. Tips are simpler: a follower sends you money once, from your profile. Tips rarely add up to income, but they cost you nothing to switch on. X sets its own eligibility for both, so check the Monetization section of your settings for the current requirements.

Direct Sponsorships

With a direct deal, a brand pays you a flat fee for a post, a pinned post or a series of posts. Before they commit, brands want to see a consistent niche, steady view counts and evidence of where your audience lives. Disclose every paid post clearly. Regulators and platforms treat undisclosed ads as a real problem, not a technicality. If you run a meme or theme page, our guide to how brands advertise on X meme pages shows the deal from the buyer's side, which helps you price your own.

Running Several Routes on One Account

These routes don't exclude each other. A common mix for an X account:

  1. Keep a steady stream of original posts, such as your own takes, analysis or edited video, to build toward Original Content Rewards.
  2. Post campaign content separately. A post carrying a paid brand logo is unlikely to fit X's idea of an original post, so treat campaign posts and original posts as two different streams.
  3. Switch on tips from day one, and add Subscriptions once you have content worth locking.
  4. Pitch direct sponsors only after the numbers from steps 1 and 2 give you something to show them.

Growing an X Account That Earns

A few habits help every route. Upload video natively, since X only counts views on its own player. Pick one niche so brands and campaign reviewers can place you. Post daily, because the X timeline moves fast and an account that goes quiet drops out of feeds. If you want Original Content Rewards, add your own commentary to anything you didn't make, because that is what keeps you eligible after the originality review. Clipping as a side hustle covers the weekly time budget, and get paid to post memes covers how meme pages specifically get matched to paid work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does X pay per 1,000 impressions?

X hasn't published a fixed rate. Original Content Rewards pays from a pool based on qualified impressions, which are unique Home Timeline views from Premium subscribers with at least half the post on screen. Your effective rate therefore depends on how much of your audience pays for Premium. Brand campaigns publish their own rate per 1,000 views, but you only see it inside each campaign.

Do I need X Premium to get paid on X?

You need Premium for Original Content Rewards. You don't need it for brand campaigns or direct sponsorships, because the brand pays for your views, not X. X sets its own requirements for Subscriptions and tips, so check the Monetization section of your settings.

Can clip accounts earn from Original Content Rewards?

Only when the post is truly transformed, for example with your own commentary, analysis or substantial editing. X's review excludes straight reposts, reuploads and repackaged content. Most clip pages earn on X through brand campaigns instead.

What happened to Creator Revenue Sharing?

X stopped taking new members in August 2026, retired the program on September 7, 2026 and opened Original Content Rewards the next day. Our Original Content Rewards explainer covers the switchover in detail.

Is there a follower minimum to get paid on X?

Original Content Rewards requires 500 verified followers, along with the impression and Premium rules. Minimums for brand campaigns depend on the platform. Open marketplaces often have none. Curated networks such as FindClout accept established pages with hundreds of thousands of followers and at least 40% of the audience in the US.

Can I earn from Original Content Rewards and brand campaigns at the same time?

Yes. X pays from its own pool for impressions on your original posts, and a brand pays separately for verified views on its branded posts. Keep the two sets of posts separate so the campaign content doesn't count against your originality review.
