How X pays creators in 2026
On September 8, 2026, X replaced Creator Revenue Sharing with Original Content Rewards. The old program stopped taking new enrollments in August and made its final payout around September 11 (TECHi). The new one pays on what X calls qualified impressions, and it pays every two weeks while your account keeps meeting the rules.
Eligibility
- An active Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription.
- At least 500 verified followers.
- At least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the prior 90 days, replies excluded (MLQ).
- 18 or older, account in good standing, and actively posting original content.
Meeting the bar lets you apply; X reviews each application. A rejected application gets one appeal, and after that you can reapply after 42 days if you still qualify.
What counts as a qualified impression
A unique view from a paying Premium subscriber, on the Home Timeline, with at least half the post on screen. Repeat views from the same account, paid or promoted impressions, and artificial traffic are excluded. That is why the calculator asks for impressions on original posts rather than your whole analytics total.
The formulas
The weak link is the rate. X has not published one for Original Content Rewards. The $8.50 per million default comes from creator reports on the retired program (Stack Influence), which paid on a different basis. Once your first payout lands, switch to Calibrate from my payout: divide what X paid by the impressions in that period and you have your own effective rate, which beats any benchmark.
X rewards vs clipping
They pay for different work. X pays you for your own posts and only counts Premium viewers, so a large audience that mostly does not subscribe earns little. X's policy also rules out the classic page playbook: copying posts, reuploading downloaded clips, adding a watermark or a text overlay, or compiling other creators' work do not qualify.
Clipping flips that. A brand or streamer supplies the source content and pays a posted rate per 1,000 verified views, on X and on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Facebook Reels. The payout comes from the campaign budget, not from a platform pool, so it does not care whether the viewer pays for Premium. The trade-off is that rates vary by campaign, and networks usually cap the payout on a single post so one runaway video cannot drain a brand's budget.
Plenty of creators run both: original commentary on their personal X account for Original Content Rewards, and campaign clips on pages built for distribution.
FAQ
How much does X pay per 1 million impressions?
X does not say. Treat any quoted figure, including this page's default, as an assumption until you calibrate it against your own payout.
Do reposted clips earn money on X?
Not under Original Content Rewards. Reuploads, watermark-only edits and compilations are excluded. Clipping campaigns pay for them because the brand is the one paying.
How often does X pay?
Every two weeks, as long as your account and content keep meeting the requirements. X can change the cadence.
Is clipping better than X creator payouts?
It depends on your content. If you write or film original work and your audience skews Premium, X rewards can add up. If you run pages or edit clips, pay-per-view campaigns are the direct route.
Run a big page? Get paid per verified view.
FindClout is a clipping network: it vets pages, verifies audiences and pays per verified view across Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube Shorts and Facebook Reels. It is selective. About 19 of every 20 creator applicants are turned down, and most accepted pages have hundreds of thousands of followers.
